ABOUT
RESIDENCY
Trainspotting Art Residence is a baby-residence, making its first steps. The residence is established by the Forest Harbour creative community in Svencioneliai.
ABOUT
A multidisciplinary community of creatives "Forest Harbour" fosters a vision of Švenčionėliai as a town of creative industries, creates platforms for cultural events and meetings, and promotes a sustainable, community-based way of life. “Trainspotting Art Residency” brings local communities and artists from Lithuania and other countries for an art residency programme exploring the theme of place-making. Set in the urban landscape of transport infrastructure and architecture, the programme aims to adapt the spaces of railway buildings for cultural and educational activities, showcase professional art in the region, and promote international artistic collaboration.
The railway has become an important part of the town and art residency, as Švenčionėliai is located around the railway station, and the railway buildings are home to the "Forest Harbour" community, which is re-purposing the derelict railway infrastructure. Thanks to the community, abandoned railway buildings are being repurposed, creatively exploiting the strengths of the old architecture to breathe new life into the town's identity embracing the urban landscape of transport infrastructure and architecture, hosting an architecture studio "Warm North", "Forest Gallery", "Trainspotting Art Residency", “House of Trains” studios, coworking space "North Station", photographer Algirdas Bakas' gallery "Bakas' atelier", tool-sharing workshop "Renaissance" and an event space "Republic of Sawmill".
